INVITATIONS / PARTY DECORATIONS_
____
My sister is turning 25, and having a big party to celebrate. For this she asked me if I could create the invitations and some decorations.
The party is Alice in Wonderland themed, and my sister wanted to be the queen of hearts so this is where the idea for the invitation came from.
The front of the invitation was to be a queen of hearts playing card, that opened up to the information.
I started designing by creating a queen of hearts image like a playing card on illustrator.
I simplified the image slightly, and then once this was done, I exported it as an image, to then crop it in half both ways, so that I had a right side and a left side. Then placed these two sides in the format needed for the folds to work. The invitation was A6 size once folded down, so folded out it was A5.
Choosing a font for the inside information was tricky, we needed something that was slightly quirky but still legible. In the end we decided on Quaver Serif for the body copy and Cylburn for the main text.
I then had to print these and fold them down. There were 50 to be made.
To hold the invitation shut, a black ribbon would be wrapped around it, with an 'open me' tag attached, keeping to the Alice in Wonderland theme.
I printed, cut out and hole punched 50 of these as well.

For the additional decorations, there were a series of playing cards, that would be placed around the venue. A large pocket watch, and table names. These were all fairly simple to create, my sister had a clear idea of what she wanted.
The pocket watch would be A1 size.
The table names are different characters from the story with a quote by that character. The coloured boarder is relevant to the character. These were A5.
This was a relatively small brief, and didn't require much research or tests as my sister new what she wanted, and so it was just a matter of creating it. The invites took a while to design, print and fold all 50, but it was a really fun brief to work on, and it will be great to see the decorations on the night in around the venue.
